Workshop on Soft Skills

Objective for conducting the activity

To make the students acquainted with soft skills and personality traits prerequisite for being recruited in the commercial world as well as to enhance productivity and performance in order to face the challenges of globalization

Methodology

Mr. Michael David, the Resource Person of the workshop, exhorted the need for interpersonal skills in educational and corporate fields. He defined soft-skills as response to situation and further added, “What acts as a hurdle to effective communication is the fear of rejection”. One who has commendable competence and remarkable capabilities but does not capitalize one’s strength is, he added, like a popcorn machine which in spite of containing all the desired and endearing food packets turns one’s attention away from it if its signpost reads ‘out of order’.

Outcome

Students gained interview tips and knowledge of ‘four minutes cell’, a duration period which the interview panel takes to decide worth of an interviewee.
