An Online Open Forum For International Day of Living Together in Peace

The Department of English and Postgraduate Center organised an Open Forum for International Day of Living Together in Peace on 16th May, 2020.

The Open Forum involved discussion and interaction between the students and teachers on the need and importance of co-existing in peace on the personal, national and international level, despite differences and diversity. The platform of the confluence was a video conference on Zoom. More than 35 students along with the members of the Department viz. Ms. Zeenat Merchant (Head of the Department) , Dr. Ashwini Purude, Mr. Zameer Sayyed and Mr. Asif Khan participated in the programme. The participants were made aware of the importance of achieving communal harmony and peace, by eliminating the sources of hatred. The students also suggested remedies to abolish discrimination and disharmony prevalent on a global scale. The deliberation and plan of action to bring about a behavioral change lasted for an hour.  The programme concluded with concrete suggestions on constructive and collective efforts to see the desired change at the personal, social and political front to ensure that people live together in peace. Ms. Zeenat Merchant, Head, Department of English and Postgraduate Center was the coordinator of the programme.
