Eng Wing Intercollegiate Competition

The Department of English organized an Intercollegiate Fest EngWing and by this established a new forum with a tagline Endowing Wings to Your Dreams in order to refine thoughts (linguistic and literary competence) and feelings (concern) of the academia through literature. First of its kind in inviting entries for competitions such as Dumb Charade, Poetry Slam, News Reader and Street Play, it was inaugurated at the hands of Sairat-famed Marathi movie-maker Mr. Santosh Sankhad and Mr. Girish Valvi, Former Vividh Bharati Announcer and Director of upcoming movie Tinhi Saanja. 

Thirty six students excluding four street-play teams were participants of the competitions from various college located in Pune City. In addition to this was a gala organized by the students of the Department in which they appeared in gait and getup of the characters springing from literary works. Mr. Zameer Sayyed and Mr. Asif Khan together coordinated this intercollegiate event. Mr. Mirza Salat Baig, Trustee, Y&M, Anjuman Khairul Islam presided over the Inaugural Session, the beloved Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh felicitated the guests. Mr. Moinuddin Khan, Vice-Principal of Arts faculty, welcomed students who had come all the ways from various colleges from Pune city. Mr. Zameer Sayyed delivered an introductory speech and stated the objectives of EngWing. Mr. Asif Khan proposed vote of thanks. 

Ms. Zeenat Merchant, Head, Department of English & Postgraduate Center and Dr. Ashwini Purude were instrumental in extending their support to the event. Dr. Shweta Gupta, Assistant Professor, New Law Academy, Mr. Srikant Mishra, SPPU, Mrs. Hashmizade, Mr. Mukhtar Shaikh and Miss. Somiya Nikhath Shaik acted as judges for the competitions. The Department-students worked very hard to make this event a grand success.
