A TWO DAY SEMINAR ON 'MASTERING THE ART OF WRITING RESEARCH PAPER AND PUBLICATION'

The Poona College of Arts, Science, and Commerce successfully organized a Two-Day (16th and 17th January 2024) National (Online) Seminar on Mastering the Art of Writing Research Paper and Publication. This event aimed at providing valuable insights into the complexities involved in creating and publishing high-quality research papers. About 270 delegates hailing from the different parts of the nation participated enthusiastically in this national event and showed their commitment to, and thirst for, improving academic expression and take research skills to the next level.

Distinguished speakers, each one an authority in a key aspect of academic writing, significantly enhanced the intellectual caliber of the Seminar. The First Session entitled Crafting a Comprehensive Research Paper: Structure and Strategies was led by Dr. Akriti Gupta, Assistant Professor in Management, Chandigarh University, Punjab. During this session, Dr. Gupta, an expert in the field, explored the intricate process of constructing a robust research paper. She shared invaluable insights regarding the essential structural components and strategic approaches necessary for crafting a comprehensive and impactful research paper.

During the second session, Dr. Parul Priya, Assistant Professor in English, Akal University, Bhatinda, offered guidance in the seminar titled Navigating Research Excellence: From Topic Selection to Plagiarism-Free Manuscript Writing. She led participants through the crucial steps of selecting a research topic and ensuring the integrity of their manuscripts. Dr. Priya, with her expertise, shed light on the journey of research writing, underscoring the significance of ethical writing practices and the avoidance of plagiarism.

The Second Day of the Seminar began with the session entitled Critique to Creation: Exploring the Properties of Referencing and Citation. In it, Dr. Simranjyot Kaur, Lecturer in English, Government Degree College, Rajkot, conducted a meticulous examination of key aspects related to referencing and citation in academic writing. With a sharp focus on the subtleties of proper citation practices, Dr. Kaur's expertise guided participants in understanding how effective referencing enhances the credibility and authenticity of scholarly work.

Dr. Devika Sharma, SMVD University, Government Degree College, Rajkot, shared her expertise on language data collection in her session entitled Methodological Insights into Language Data Collection. The participants from all over India gained valuable insights into the intricacies of gathering language data for research purposes, as Dr. Sharma explored methodological approaches, providing a comprehensive understanding of essential tools and techniques for effective data collection.

The Valedictory Session, led by Dr. Simran Preet Kaur, Visiting Faculty (English), University of Ladakh (Kargil Campus), focused on Decoding the Research Paper Publication Process. Dr. Kaur offered a comprehensive roadmap for researchers to navigate challenges in the publication process, covering key stages from manuscript submission to review and publication. The sessions, curated by esteemed speakers, significantly contributed to the participants' skill development in academic writing and research dissemination.

Mr. Zameer Sayeed, Assistant Professor at the Department of English, Poona College, played a crucial role in coordinating the national event. The organizing committee, headed by the Poona College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Aftab Anwar Shaikh, and supported by the Vice Principal Mr. Moinuddin Khan, and the English Department Head Ms. Zeenat Merchant ensured flawless execution of the seminar. Dr. Ashwini Purude and Dr. Sumaiya Kachhi were also an integral part of this two-day journey. Prof. (Dr.) Aftab Anwar Shaikh's unwavering support was instrumental in the successful commencement and conclusion of the seminar.
