An International Level Multi-Disciplinary Webinar on ‘International Day of Non-violence’


The Department of English and Postgraduate Center organized this International Level Multidisciplinary Webinar on International Day of Non-violence to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and to mark the day globally recognized as Internatioanl Day of Non-violence. Mr. Moinuddin Khan, Vice Principal, Poona College, welcomed the guests: Dr. Syed Tahseen Raza and Mr. Ihsan Muthar. Ms. Zeenat Merchant, Head, Department of English and Postgraduate Center, spoke on the theme of the webinar. Dr. Syed Tahseen Raza, Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategic and Security Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, was invited as a Resource Person to deliver a talk on the life and work of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and how his ideology of non-violence influenced the world. Mr. Ihsan Muthar, Assistant Professor in English, Tikrit University, Iraq, sent his message for the audience highlighting the message that literature is the only weapon against war. He enlisted several works of art to prove his point that literature gives strength to powerless, is a voice of dissent, and can transform the society into civilization.

Mr. Zameer Salim Sayyed, Coordinator of the webinar, introduced the guests. Dr. Ashwini Purude proposed vote of thanks. Mr. Asif Khan anchored the sessions smoothly and successfully. After the deliberation, the session was open for discussion.
