‘MEGA DONATION DRIVE’ AT WALL OF KINDNESS

Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Mega Donation Drive at the heart of Pune City today with an aim to provide clothes, blankets, bed-sheets and other useful things to the scores of needy people who spend their life on MG Road and the slum-area surrounding it. Poona College came to the fore with 60kg clothes at the Wall of Kindness, a wall of Pune Cantonment Court painted by the philanthropic wing of Poona College Muskaan: The Healing Smile, the brainchild of the Poona College Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh. The wall has gained popularity for procuring clothes for the needy and destitute. Mr. Moinuddin Khan, Vice Principal, extended moral support for the drive. “We always direct our students to practise and promote compassionate behaviour and I am happy to witness an overwhelming response from our students for this noble endeavour”, said Ms. Zeenat Merchant, Head, Department of English.

Thirty five students contributed in the donation drive under the chaperonage of Mr. Zameer Sayyed, Assistant Professor, Department of English and coordinator of the drive, along with the Department staff-members Dr. Ashwini Purude and Mr. Asif Khan. Pamphlets were circulated to spread the message of compassion. The pedestrians appreciated the staff and students for the initiative.
