A GUIDANCE TALK ON 'ARE YOU A SLOW READER? - AN ART OF READING FASTER AND RECALLING MORE'

 


The objective of the Guidance Talk on Are You a Slow Reader? – An Art of Reading Faster and Recalling More held by the Department of English and Postgraduate Center on 02nd of November 2022 was to empower students with the knowledge and techniques required to enhance their reading skills, fostering faster and more accurate comprehension. The event aimed to underscore the critical role that mastering this skill plays in achieving academic success.

The talk commenced with a focus on the significance of improving reading skills in the context of academic success. It was emphasized that reading is a fundamental skill that forms the bedrock of effective learning. Students were made aware that not only does it enable them to access a wealth of knowledge, but it also empowers them to comprehend complex texts and materials with ease.

Active reading, speed reading techniques, vocabulary expansion, note-taking and critical analysis skills were discussed at length in the guidance talk.

A total of eighty-six students were fortunate enough to benefit from this enlightening session. The talk was led by Mr. Zameer Salim Sayyed, who served as the resource person and coordinator, ensuring that the event ran smoothly.
