Induction Programme for First Year BA Students

To make the entrants feel at home in their new environment students and inculcate the ethos of the Institution with a sense of larger purpose. The Arts Faculty of Poona College organized this Two Day Induction Programme for FYBA Students which commenced with students registering enthusiastically for the said programme. The formal programme started with recitation of a few verses from Holy Quran by Mr. Hashim Ansari. Dr. GulabPathan, Head, Department of Sociology and one of the coordinators of the programme, spelled out the objective. The Ms.Zeenat Merchant   conducted a session of pranayama and meditation for the students .Using power-point presentation she chronicled the history of the Institute and itsmentors.She also  oriented the students about in-campus and off-campus activities specially designed by each Department in line with the vision and mission of the Institute forthe all-round development of the students. Dr. Ahmed Shamshad,Head Department of Political Science   and Dr. Zoheb Hassan, Head, Department of History, acquainted the students with its vision and mission. Further theymade the students aware of the adverse effects of ragging activities. Dr. AshwiniPurude, Assistant Professor in English introduced the students to all the faculty members and communicated tothem the names of the in-charge faculty who will look after them as their mentors. This programme succeeded in communicating how the students can boost their academic pursuits by benefitting from the work-culture, industrial exposure and various curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular activities taken up by the Institute. Dr. Ashwini Purude coordinated the programme.
