A WORKSHOP ON 'CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN HUMANITIES'

 

The PG Centers of English, Economics and Urdu in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized One Day Workshop on Career Opportunities in Humanities with an objective to make humanities students familiar with career opportunities - available at present and openings in future - in sectors beyond Education sector. While unveiling the theme of the workshop to the jam-packed gathering of one hundred and eighteen participants, Mr. Zameer Salim Sayyed, one of the Coordinators of the Workshop, said, "Professional development and long-term career planning are no longer optional activities for graduate and postgraduate students in humanities" highlighting the need to start planning for career well in advance.

Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Principal, Poona College, spoke as Resource Person. He motivated students to rigorously remain goal-oriented throughout their academic journey, hold higher degrees but learn to monetize your skill and talent. "Go for mehndi-design course, fashion-designing and other courses preparing for handsome-salaried career", said Aftab Anwar Shaikh while commenting on the ever-changing paradigms of success in today's demanding and unforgiving culture at workplaces.

Mr. Moinuddin Khan, Vice Principal, and Head, Department of Urdu, Arabic and Persian, Ms. Zeenat Merchant, Head, Department of English and Postgraduate Center, and Dr. M. Shahid Jamal Ansari, Head, Department of Economics, Postgraduate & Research Center, were all instrumental in the organization and success of the workshop. Dr. Abdul Bari, Associate Professor of Urdu, and Dr. Vidyasagar Singaram, Assistant Professor of Economics, were also the Coordinators who took labours to make the event a grand success. The teaching faculty Dr. Aswhini Purude and Dr. Simran Preet Kaur, from the Department of English, Dr. Abrar Ahmad and Mr. Javed Akhtar From the Department of Urdu, Arabic and Persian, Dr. Gulnawaz Usmani and Dr. Milind Patil from the Department of Economics, PG and Research Center, Dr. Shakir Shaikh from the Department of Hindi, Dr. Zoheb Hasan, from the Department of History, Dr. Ahmad Shamshad and Dr. Mukhtar Shaikh from the Department of Political Science, and Dr. Deepika Kininge from the Department of BBA, graced the occasion by their benign presence.
